Experiential education is a key component of the Johnson & Wales University curriculum. The university has a number of programs designed to develop workplace skills and competencies to supplement classroom and laboratory learning.

Residence Hall Association (RHA) is the organization that represents and supports all resident JWU students. RHA oversees and distributes the programming budget for the four hall councils and supports campus-wide events for JWU’s residents. Serving on RHA is an excellent leadership opportunity that gives you the chance to shape the resident community at JWU. RHA is closely connected with the four hall councils.
Mission Statement: To provide a place for meaningful and educational community engagement for students to develop their civic skills and capacity that include (but are not limited to) understanding of root causes of community challenges, communication skills, ethical decision-making, the ability to conduct a needs-assessment, build consensus among stakeholders and team members, be value-oriented, think strategically, understand the views and perspectives of others who are different from them, and much more.
